David Brian Osterbrock, 75, of Statham, died on May 15, 2014, following a brief illness. He was born in Cincinnati, OH. David was the son of the late William Lewis Osterbrock and Emma Frank Osterbrock. He was preceded in death by brothers William, Richard and Jack Osterbrock.
David was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and worked in the family business, Osterbrock Parts Warehouse. Later he and his wife moved to Palm Harbor, FL, where he became active in Toastmasters, serving as Area 18 Governor in 1998. He was an avid sports fan, rooting enthusiastically for the Bearcats, Bengals and his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Other hobbies included gardening and studying history, mathematics and cosmology. He especially loved his family, his bright red Knockout roses and the music of Beethoven.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Kennedy Osterbrock, daughter Jean Page Clark and son David Prescott (Carol) Osterbrock and grandchildren William, Jack and Patrick Clark and Abigail and David Osterbrock.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord & Stephens West. The family will receive friends and neighbors at 10 am, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Georgia Options or the American Cancer Society.
