David Wayne Lavender, 64, died May 27, 2016, at his home in Bogart, GA.
David was born July 25, 1951 in Athens, GA to the late Lee Roy Lavender and Mary Jo Lipham Lavender. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army and was a retired driver of 35 years for UPS in Athens, GA. He had been married to his high school sweetheart for 46 years. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2015. He loved life and his family, and fought hard to stay with them as long as possible.
David is survived by his wife, Linda Yonce Lavender of Bogart, GA; daughter Tabitha Toci of Athens, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Michael and Julie McCrary of Cumming, GA; sisters Brenda Porter of Columbus, GA, Nancy Howard of Flagler Beach, FL, Barbara Lavender of Athens, GA, and grandchildren Alli and Haley Toci and Avery, Peyton, and Presley McCrary. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Dorothy Hadaway, and brother Michael Lavender.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Lord and Stephens West with Rev. Barry Shettel officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1-2pm. The memorial service will begin at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Christian School, 2201 Ruth Jackson Rd Bogart, GA 30622.
