Winterville - David C. Johnson, 73, husband of Ellen Johnson, died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Panther Branch Township, NC, David was the son of the late Marvin Curtis and Martha Stancil Johnson. He retired from Central Soya after 20 years. He was of the Baptist Faith, former council member for the City of Winterville and served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary McGee.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughters: Linda May of Athens, Pam Johnson of Comer, Melanie Weaver of Hull; sister: Pearl Strickland of Fuquay-Varina, NC, brothers: Wylie Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Kenneth Johnson of Willow Springs, NC, Raymond Johnson of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Tommy Johnson of Delco, NC; grandchildren: Kristy Pitman, Jennifer Hartzog, Michael and Megan Weaver, Sheena, Joshua, Elizabeth and John Simpson; great grandchildren: Oliver Pitman and Kenneth Hartzog.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Wiley Carney officiating. Burial will follow at Winterville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
