David Young Holbert

David Young Holbert, 80, of Watkinsville, GA, husband of 32 years to Marcia Rose Holbert, died on Friday, April 19, 2024. 

Born in Madison, GA on August 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Isaac Woodrow Holbert and Mary Alice Young Holbert and brother to the late Nellie Ruth Screws (Leroy), Mazelle Phelps (Morris), Patricia Brown (Nolan) and William Holbert. David served in the United State Army from 1962 until 1968 and retired from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office as Lieutenant over the Warrants Division after 17 years. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. 

Survivors in addition to his wife Marcia include three children: Chris Holbert of Watkinsville, Charles Holbert (Angel) of Watkinsville and Kate Brown (Nate) Eden Prairie, MN; stepsons: Paul and Frederick Kidd (Christina); siblings: Charlie Holbert (Patsy), Barbara Sidwell (J.C.) and Leonard Holbert (Sara Lynn); grandchildren: Corey Holbert (Kennedy), Caleb Holbert, Kristen Fambrough, Chase Holbert, Ashlyn Holbert, Nolan Brown, Mara Brown, Josiah Kidd, Joey Kidd, Carson Kidd and Jaxon Kidd and great grandchildren: Jayden Ford, Rhett Ellard, Dawson Fambrough and Braxton Fambrough. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Evans officiating. Inurnment will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
