David Charles "Tiny" Hanson

David Charles Hanson "Tiny", died peacefully at home and went to his mansion in heaven March 24, 2013. He was born March 1, 1949 to Wendel Eugene Hanson, Sr., and Hazel Johnson Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wendel Eugene Hanson, Jr., sisters Carol Quaggin, Ruth Kent, and brother-in-law Melvin Perdue. He was survived by his wife of 27 years Debra Rhoden Hanson "Rudi", sister Marty Perdue, and sister-in-law Gail Hanson, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ellis and Beverly Rhoden, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stephen and Debra Rhoden, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cheryl and Toni Holliman, sister-in-law Jean Lowry, many nieces and nephews that he loved so much, and special family Allie and Josh Cowart, Joseph Cowart, and Elisha Nichols.
He was retired after 38 1/2 years of law enforcement from the Athens Police Department. He was the Constable of Municipal Court and Clarke county Sheriffs office. In 1976 he was shot in the line of duty which led to a kidney and pancreas transplant on April 12, 2000 and numerous health problems.
He was a member and Pastmaster of the John H. Jones lodge. He was also Pastmaster of the 8th district. He was 32nd degree Scottish Rite and York Rite Mason and member of the Director Staff of the Yaarab Temple.
He was a member of the Meadow Baptist Church and loved his church family.
He was always joking and pulling pranks with co-workers, family and friends. He always saw the positive in everything.
Visitation will be at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home in Danielsville on Wednesday March 27 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be at Meadow Baptist Church in Comer on Thursday March 28 at 2pm. Rev. Mike Sarna will officiate interment will follow in the church cemetery
