September 30, 1952 — November 12, 2024

Athens

David Lowery Castellon celebrated life for 72 years until he claimed his baptismal promise of resurrection on November 12, 2024. Born in Meridian, MS, he was the youngest son of Dorothy (Dot) Gregory and Francisco Lopez-Castellon. David enjoyed life even while overcoming many challenges, simply persevering and adapting to life’s changes.

In 1994, he married Karen Lynne Bennett then following God’s call, they founded Pathways to Learning, Inc. in 1995. As president for 28 years, David encouraged students who struggled with learning along with their families as he administered the details of running the company. He treated everyone with kindness and respect, always taking time to listen, usually with a smile.

As time allowed, he enjoyed listening to different genres of music, watching classic movies and camping. David and Karen enjoyed 30 years of marriage with love, mutual respect, communication, and God’s grace.

David was preceded in death by both his parents and his older brother, Michael (Mickey). He is survived by his wife, Karen of Carlton, Georgia, his sister, Linda Castellon Harris of Marietta, GA, her sons Gregg Harriss of Woodstock, GA, Scott Harris of Metairie, LA, and his brother’s son Michael Castellon of Austin, TX, as well as many extended family members and friends with whom he loved spending time. A lifelong resident of Athens, David loved Georgia football and watching the Dawgs play.
