David Edward Buchanan

David Buchanan lived 83 years on this earth. He went to his God on June 17, 2023.

He deeply loved his wife of 61 years, Miriam, and their two daughters, Anne Buchanan Parrish and Jennifer Buchanan Feeney. He admired their spouses, Mark Parrish and Chris Feeney.

David loved his seven grandchildren: Frances Parrish-Wadel (Colby), John Parrish (Casey Coen), Michael Parrish, Kevin Parrish, Thomas Feeney, Edward Feeney, and Katherine Feeney, and enjoyed helping them grow into caring, responsible adults.

Siblings Mary Buchanan Scheible (Don), Bill Buchanan (Elaine), Al Buchanan (Judy), sister-in-law, Muriel Laidlaw (Richard), niece, nephews and their families were integral parts of his life.

David valued his accomplished career with Ford Motor Company and was a proud United States Marine. He held deep respect for his Catholic faith and the Jesuits.  His values and actions in the way he lived his life were guided by their tradition of “men for others.”

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6 at the Catholic Center of the University of Georgia, 1344 S Lumpkin St. Athens, GA, at 11:00 am.  A private interment will be held at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy , 8400 S. Cambridge Ave, Detroit, MI 48221, in the name of David Buchanan/Tuition Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
