Athens, GA - David Newton Branan, 85, died January 24, 2008.
Born in Morgan County, he was the son of the late C. Newton and Mary Hunter Branan. Mr. Branan was a retired medic with the U.S. Navy, having served during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion and Beech Haven Baptist Church. Mr. Branan was an accomplished organist and avid orchid grower.
Graveside services will be Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Clark Cemetery, Lexington.
Survivors include his sister, Betty Gann of Athens; niece, Susan Sheffield (Phil);
nephew, David Gann; friend, Robert L. Beckham of Athens.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Clark Cemetery fund % Lexington Baptist Church.
