Bogart, GA - Darrell Dean Vander Kooi, 47, passed away April 1, 2008 from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.
A longtime resident of Oconee County, he was a son of Patsy Morrow and Duane Vander Kooi, Sr. of Bogart, GA. He was a grandson of the late J. T. and Lizzie Morrow and Peter J. and Katherine Boulton Vander Kooi.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 4, 2008, at 10:00 AM at Living Word Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Davison officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his companion for fourteen years, Nancy Hester; two children, Heather Vander Kooi of Texas and Brandon Vander Kooi of Atlanta; two grandchildren; brothers, Duane Vander Kooi, Jr., Danny Vander Kooi and Joseph Vander Kooi; sister, Tina Buckler, all of Oconee County; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his companions' mother, Betty Hester.
Pallbearers will be Duane Vander Kooi, Jr., Danny Vander Kooi, Greg Buckler, Ricky Stowe, Mike Morgan, and Greg Stowe.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, Bogart, GA 30622.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dee Sisk as well as the staff of St. Mary's Hospice House for their ongoing care and support.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
