Darlene "Dolly" Dunn Barstow, 74, of Micanopy, FL, was surrounded by her family as she peacefully passed away on March 26, 2017 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, GA.
She was preceded in death by Alma Darlene Garrett Dunn of Greenville, SC (mother); Carey Ison Dunn of Greenville, SC (father); and Neal Carey Dunn of Statesboro, GA (brother).
She was a graduate of the University of Florida and earned specialist degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Counseling from the University of Georgia. She was a teacher at Barnett Shoals Elementary for 17 years and a guidance counselor at Cedar Shoals High School for 10 years before retiring to spend time with her grandchildren and beloved husband. Though her academic and professional accomplishments were numerous, she dedicated her entire life to serving others. She was particularly devoted to the community outreach ministries of Covenant Presbyterian Church (Athens, GA), serving as a founding leader of its High School Youth Ministry program and as an active participant in the Athens Area Meals on Wheels program.
Surviving are husband William Edward Barstow of Athens, GA; daughters Jennifer Davis Loyd of Grayson, GA and Patricia Davis Huberty (Greg) of Athens, GA; Linda Barstow McCormick (Mark) of Carrollton, GA and Susan Barstow Ahrens (Karl) of Bloomfield, CT; granddaughters Ashley Loyd McLain (William) of Huntsville, AL; Alyssa Huberty of Athens, GA; Heather Ford (William) of Winston-Salem, NC and Caitlin McCormick of Newnan, GA; grandsons Zachary Huberty of Athens, GA; Patrick McCormick (Kaitlyn) of Decatur, AL; Daniel and David Ahrens of Bloomfield, CT; great-grandchildren James and Charlotte Ford of Winston-Salem, NC.

A celebration of Dolly's life will be held on Friday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall.
