Dannie June Shadden

Dannie “June” Odom Shadden, 83, went to her Heavenly home on March 24, 2025, with her daughters and their husbands by her side. June was born on April 22, 1941 in Athens, Georgia, the daughter of Willie and Frank Odom.

June graduated from Athens High School in 1959 and married Alton Shadden on June 18, 1961. She was a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses around Athens, Georgia. June and Alton were married for 38 years and had two daughters, Suzanne (Barry) Cook of Watkinsville, Georgia, and Lisa (Scott) Andrews of Lexington, Georgia.

June was always an involved member in her church, serving in most roles available. She taught Sunday School, directed the Christmas Pageant, and organized Vacation Bible School. Upon her passing, she was a member at Whitehall Baptist Church and was engaged in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). In addition to church activities, she enjoyed arts and crafts, decorating, doing word puzzles, and loving on her friends and family through cooking and baking.

June is preceded in death by her husband Alton Shadden, her parents, and her brother Larry Odom.

Survivors include her daughters, grandchildren Erica (Chris) Boswell, Melissa (Steven) Berardinelli, Tyler (Jessica) Andrews, Danielle (Collin Walker) Free, Wayne (Katie) Cook, and Jade (Christopher) Haston. In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank High Shoals Rehabilitation Center and Georgia Hospice Care for their support and care of their Mama and Granny during this time.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
