Daniel Wesley Joyner, 36, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, August 29, 2021, in the home of a family member. He was born March 5, 1985, in Athens, Georgia. He lived in Athens for most of his life, attending Oconee County High School and the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), graduating in May of 2003 and 2011 respectively. He moved to Orlando, Florida, with his wife, Sarah, in 2016, where they would later welcome their son, Kelly James Joyner.
He was an educator first and always, and taught Spanish at Madison County High School in Danielsville, Georgia, and Poinciana High School in Kissimmee and most recently was a Dean of Students at Osceola High School in Osceola County, Florida. He had a passion for teaching and coaching soccer and was truly beloved by his students, his athletes, and his fellow educators. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and proudly served a mission in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 2004 to 2006. He was also proud to be an Eagle Scout. Daniel never met a stranger. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He truly enjoyed service to others and making people laugh, and there was hardly ever a better dancer on the dance floor, unless his was surrounded by his cousins, who were his best friends. His family was his first priority, and his son was the pride of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ruth Joyner and son, Kelly James Joyner. Also, his parents, Lynn and Lisa Joyner and sister Kayla; paternal grandparents, Jack and Margaret Joyner, all of Watkinsville, GA; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by maternal grandparents, Ed and Nancy Kennedy.
