Daniel Gotche Boserup

Daniel G. Boserup, age 87, of Athens, GA, and husband of 58 years to Mary Carol (Snead) Boserup, passed away on January 16, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born in Nassau County, NY, and spent his childhood in Denmark before returning to the United States during WWII.

Dan worked on his family’s dairy farms in New York, before joining the U.S. Marine Corps and being stationed in Hawaii. His educational career took him to Albany State and then to Vanderbilt University where he was a professor. Throughout his life, Dan was known and loved for being a talented artist, master builder, incredible athlete, gifted storyteller, walking encyclopedia of facts, his special kindness toward animals, and ever proud of his Danish heritage, he was a self-proclaimed Viking.

Survivors in addition to his wife include son Paul Boserup of Redwood City, CA, and daughter Kris Boserup Jutz and her husband, Stephan, of Midlothian, VA; his sister Anna Rush Zado of Temple Terrace, FL; his grandchildren Tyler, Stephanie, and Josh; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

As is customary in Denmark, his family shares these final words: “Tak for Alt, Dan.” meaning, “Thank you for everything, Dan.”
