Cornelia Stela Iuga, 87, of Athens, died on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
Born in Romania to Suciu Petru and Susana, Cornelia immigrated to the United States and worked in housekeeping for a hospital in Glendale, California. Though she had limited formal education, she taught herself English and raised two daughters. She moved to Athens in 2005 and was an active member of the Athens Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Iuga Bujor, and five of her siblings.
Cornelia is survived by her daughters, Gabriela Long and Carmen Paduraru; sons-in-law Danny Long and Marian Paduraru; grandchildren Chloe Paduraru and Kyle Paduraru; and four sisters: Varga Susana, Dumitrescu Lidia, Boia Viorica, and Stanoiu Ana.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Joseph Carty and Michaela Lawrence Jeffery officiating. Interment will follow the service at Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
