Connie Lea Russell

Connie Lea Russell, 71, of Athens, GA, passed away Friday October 9, 2015. She was born September 27th, 1944 in Hays, Kansas to the late Nadine Hill. She was raised in San Mateo, California and adopted at the age of 5 by her father Vernon Hill. She married the late George Russell, Jr. on April 4th, 1964 and followed him through 22 years of service in the United States Navy. While they were stationed at the United States Naval Supply Corps School, Connie started working at the University of Georgia in the Classics Department and she made it her home away from home until she retired.
She is survived by her two children and spouses, Tim and Cambria Russell and Laurie and Marc Lewis; one sibling John Dambold; and four grandchildren, Tony and Calder Russell and Joshua and Luke Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, October 12th at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel with Jeff Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Athens Area Humane Society on Mars Hill Road.
