Connie Barnette

Connie Rebecca Barnette died peacefully on the evening of March 26, 2006 at Athens Regional Hospital. Her mother and life companion, Rebecca Dawson (Becky) Barnette was at her bedside.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, James Milton Barnette, who died suddenly on December 26, 1950, when Connie was 9 years of age.
Connie had a multitude of family and friends who supported and loved her. She made a huge impact on many folks who came in contact with her over her 64 years of life. She could not talk or walk but her presence was felt strongly in many areas.
Connie was a Special and Unique person who was loved by many. She will be missed by many. Connie loved church, family, friends and many others. Reunions, church socials, birthdays, Christmas and family "get-togethers" were very important to her.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Union Christian Church, her lifetime church. Rev. Phil Price, Dr. Diane Bales, Rev. Colette D. Hensley and Rev. Patrick Chandler will officiate. Interment will be at Union Christian Church Cemetery in the square of her late father, Milton Barnette.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the "I'll Try" Sunday School Class at Union Christian Church, including Sue Truluck and Wanda Maxey.
Survivors in addition to her mother include her uncle, Ruhl Dawson (Charlotte) of Watkinsville, aunts, Roberta Dawson Dellinger of Lexington, KY and Sunie Nell Dawson Stewart of Gainesville, FL; numerous cousins and numerous family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
