Born in Milford, Conn., she was the daughter of Elsie B. Carithers, of Hull, and the late Julius William Carithers.
She was a cosmetologist and member St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors in addition to her mother include her son, Shawn Patton, of Comer, and brother, Mark Carithers.
A memorial mass will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 6, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
