Carl Grady Moore (Col., U.S. Army, ret.), age 87, passed away August 22, 2006 in
Knoxville, TN.
Col. Moore was born in Maynardville, TN on January 26, 1919, the seventh son of
J.I. and Florence Moore. He attended Lincoln Memorial University, where he
lettered in both baseball and basketball, and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Law School. A decorated combat veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served as an Armor Officer during both conflicts. He continued his military
career as a member of the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps at stations in
Europe, Asia and the U.S., including service as the Chief Military Judge for
the United States Army. Following his military career, he was a staff attorney
at the University of Georgia until retirement. He was an avid golfer and will
be missed deeply by family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Josephine C. Moore; children, C. Grady
Moore, Jr. and spouse, Jane and Melissa M. Robinson and spouse, Jack;
grandchildren, C. Grady Moore III, and spouse Kimberly, John David Moore and
spouse, Cathy, Leni Robinson Miller and spouse, Jeff and John Robinson; great
grandchildren, Nolen, Cantrell, Jacob and Elizabeth, and a large, loving and
caring family.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Friday, August 25,
2006, beginning at 7:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow at 8:30 PM with
remarks and comments welcome from anyone attending. Interment will be at
Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in support of the Salvation
Army or other charity of choice.
