Clyde Gunter (Gunter) Harris

May 9, 1928 — October 19, 2014

Clyde G. Harris, age 86, passed away October 19, 2014.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Miss Clyde was a graduate of Meson Academy. She was employed with Harper Motor Lines, Dixie Feed & Seed, and Merchant & Farmers Bank. An active member of Carlton Baptist Church since 1952, she loved serving and participating in the Loyalty Sunday School Class. She loved traveling, cooking for others, growing beautiful flowers, and visiting the Comer Nursing Home. Miss Clyde was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brewer and Ellen Gunter; and sisters, Sara Walker and Peggy Chonoski.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Turner Harris; children, Ashby (Joyce) Harris of Suwanee,Ga, Mary (Jeff) Faircloth of Warner Robins, Ga; sister, Jo Morris of Hampton, Va; grandchildren, Brent Harris, Elizabeth Harris, Mary Ellen (David) Prophitt, Jacob (Diana) Faircloth; great-granddaughter, Finley Faircloth; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Carlton Baptist Church with the Revs. Doug Ivey and Dwight Duhon officiating. Interment will follow in Carlton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM on Tuesday, October 21.
