Athens - Clinton Lake Weaver, 79, husband of 55 years to Doris Powell Weaver, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, West, with Rev. Rob Bray officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Hart, Jack Rogers, Clint Weaver, Billy Weaver, Phil Bryant and Jeff Bishop. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
A native of Hartwell, he was the son of the late James Bode Weaver Sr. and Lula Hilley Weaver. In addition to his parents, his brothers, William, Frank and Thomas; and sister, Mozelle Weaver Barnett; preceded him in death. Mr. Weaver retired from the University of Georgia as a Heavy Equipment Foreman at the Physical Plant and also served his country in the Army Reserves. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Scott (Tami) Weaver of Bishop; daughter, Rhonda Canerday of Watkinsville; brothers, J.B. Weaver Jr. and Joe Weaver; sister, Josephine Weaver Banister; grandchildren, Jessica "J.J." (Brandon) Pass, Cody Canerday, Hannah Canerday, Jennifer Weaver (Victor) Palestina and Clinton Weaver; and one great-grandson, Kevin Brandon Palestina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethabara Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
