Clifford Holmes Maxey of Crawford, Georgia, died February 4th, 2013, after a long illness. Born
February 2nd, 1930, in Maxey, Georgia, he was the son of the late Frank David and Lila Strozier Maxey.
Mr. Maxey was a member of Lexington Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the UGA Physical Plant in 1995. After retirement, he served on the Crawford City Council for four years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Alice Maxey; daughter, Michelle Eberhardt of Crawford and daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Alan Erwin of Lexington; five grandchildren and two
great - granddaughters; two sisters and three brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 6th, 2013 at Lexington Baptist Church with Rev. Rod Walls officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Private burial will be held at Clark Cemetery.
