Cleveland Alden Sorrells, Jr.

Cleveland Alden Sorrells, Jr., 89, of Athens passed away on October 20, 2024. He was born on February 4, 1935, in Athens, Georgia to the late Cleveland Alden Sorrells, Sr. and Emily Johnson Sorrells.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velna B. Sorrells; son, Kenneth A. Sorrells.

Survivors include his son, Michael (Karen) Sorrells; daughter, Gwendolyn Joyce (Jimmy) Hicks; 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Alden was a member of Temple United Methodist Church and served in both the U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Highland Hills Memory Care Unit for the care and support that was given.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 24th, at Temple United Methodist Church Cemetery in Arnoldsville, GA at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 – 2:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
