Claudette Adams Norman

Claudette Adams Norman, 84, of Oglethorpe County, passed away on January 19, 2025, in Athens, Georgia. Born on August 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Truman Cone Adams and Sara Ruth Spears Roper. Claudette had a fun and spirited personality. She loved the outdoors, reading, travel, and spending time with friends and family. 

She was a devoted and caring wife to her husband of 62 years and the love of her life, Lee, as well as a loving and considerate mother to her sons Adam and Keary.

A graduate of Franklin County High School in Carnesville, Georgia, she moved to Athens, Georgia, in 1958, working in the Chemistry Department at the University of Georgia before moving to the Soil Conservation Service, United States Department of Agriculture as a Soils Laboratory Assistant. She transitioned to Database Management and completed her 30-year career as a Digital Procurement, Integration, and Training Specialist for the USDA, retiring in 1995. 

Claudette was a dedicated member of Arnoldsville Baptist Church, serving as Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and member of the choir for over 50 years. She also served her community as a leader of Girls in Action as well as a supporter of Scouting and Royal Ambassadors.

In addition to her parents, Claudette was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, her brothers Eugene Adams, Morris Adams, and Roger Roper. Survivors include her children, Adam Norman (Heather), Keary Norman (Katherine); and her two grandchildren, Abbigayle Norman and Mason Norman; her brother Ricky Roper (Edna), sisters-in-law Lisa Roper and Lynda Norman, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and family, including niece Kathy E. Adams.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens, East, with Larry Davison and Nathan Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be no interment ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arnoldsville Baptist Church at 240 Yancey Road, Arnoldsville, GA or the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
