Claude William Stewart, 83, died December 1, 2009.
A native and lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Mark and Hattie Hart Stewart and the widower of Martha Joyce Fleeman Stewart. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, during which he served three tours, including one in the European Theater. Mr. Stewart retired from Westinghouse after many years.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Interment will be in Winterville Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Charles William Hill of Colbert, Catherine Kerby of Rockford, IL, and Sherry Hill of Winterville; sister, Patricia Massey of Athens; two grandchildren. Cody Hill and Hannah Hill; three step-grandchildren, Zachary Brady, Dalton Brady and Austin Brady.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
