Claude Erwin Nation, 93, departed this life on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Born in and longtime resident of Oglethorpe County, GA, he was a son of the late Johnny Ace and Sullie Rosetta Whitlock Nation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Nation and sons, Wendell Nation, David Nation and George Edward Nation.
A US Navy veteran, Claude was a graduate of The University of Georgia having received his Business degree on the G I Bill. He retired from Alltel in 1986 and became a full-time farmer. Claude was a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge, Yaarab Shrine and Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his daughter, Lora Mazzone and her husband, Paul of Crawford; grandchildren, Sally (Joe) Fernandez, Shane (Tavia) Chandler, Michael (Ivie) Mazzone, Anthony Mazzone; Bridget Nation, Ray (April) Nation, Nicholas Gaines, Rocky (Stephanie) Nation, Kimberely Nation and Cory Nation.
Services will be Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East with Rev. Herman Nation officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Avenue Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Members of the Lexington Masonic Lodge will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Masonic Lodge, 860 Athens Road, Crawford, GA 30630.
