Clarence Grady "Bo" Hardigree

On May 30, 2016, Clarence Grady "Bo" Hardigree, Jr. passed away peacefully.
A lifelong native of Watkinsville, Georgia, Bo was born on November 8, 1931, the eldest child of the late Clarence Grady "Rabbit" Hardigree and Annie Jane Norville Hardigree. Bo was also preceded in death by his sister, Alice Ann Hardigree, and a brother who died as an infant, William David Hardigree.
After attending Watkinsville High School and Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Bo graduated from the University of Georgia in 1954 with a degree in Business Administration. At UGA, he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, affectionately known as "Dimps" by his brothers. He then served the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant from 1954 to 1956, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Upon returning to Oconee County in 1956, he began working with his father in the insurance, farming and banking industries. Bo continued to solely operate Hardigree Insurance Agency and Hardigree Farms at the passing of his father in 1966. He served as the owner/agent of Hardigree Insurance Agency, established in 1919 by his father, for another 40 years until his retirement in 2006. He also served as a Director for Oconee State Bank for 27 years. Additionally, he was a proprietor of Hardigree Farms and Properties, where he continued to work and enjoy riding his tractor into his 80's until his body would no longer allow him to do so. In the community, Bo served as a former president of the Watkinsville Civitan Club and a member of Ashford Memorial Methodist Church where he served as a Director, Treasurer, Adult Sunday School Director and sang in the choir for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joyce Coker Hardigree; daughter, Holly Hardigree Stephenson; son-in-law, Tom Stephenson; grandson, Brad Stephenson; and twin granddaughters, Annie and Camille Stephenson.
The family will receive friends from 11am -1pm on Thursday, June 2nd at Lord and Stephens West Funeral Home in Watkinsville, Georgia. A graveside service will follow at Oconee Memorial Park with Rev. Thomas Cochran officiating at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ashford Memorial Methodist Church, where Bo was the oldest charter member until his death.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Affinis Hospice Care for their help in caring for Bo over the last few months.
