Fay or Mama Fay as she was known by so many through the years left this earthly home Tuesday evening to reside in her permanent home. She had known since about age 16 that Heaven was her home and especially looked forward to being with loved ones who had gone on before her. The ones she was ready to hug, and kiss were her sons, Greg and Darrell.
Fay was born in Franklin County to her deceased parents. Her father Fred Andrews passed away when Fay was only a toddler, and her mother Clara Andrews Davis left this earth in 1999.
Fay is survived by her husband, GF Massey and daughter, Wanda Lovinggood Gabriel. They all agreed that home was the Oglethorpe section of Winterville, GA. However, in her heart, it was not easy for Fay to leave Elbert County since she had called that home 48 years of her life.
Fay could not have enjoyed anything anymore than she did being in the insurance business; having her own agency was a dream come true.
Fay is survived by only two of a large number of siblings. She leaves behind a sister, Reba Patanella of Rogers, Arkansas and a brother, Edward Raines (and his wife, Nancy) of Arnoldsville, GA. Fay is also survived by both grand and great-grand nieces and nephews that she has loved so dearly through the years. These are not listed since there are so many of them.
Fay is preceded by siblings from her father’s first marriage: brother, Doyle Andrews, and two sisters Jo and Annie. She was preceded by siblings of both her mother and father: HT, Bob, Bill Andrews and one sister, Nell Andrews Gehrke. She was predeceased by younger siblings of her mother's from another marriage: sister Jean Almond and Dudley Raines.
There will be a time for visitation with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 on Thursday at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605. Fay has made so many friends here and they might want to stop by to speak to her family.
Elberton Christian Church was her home church since 1972. It was much smaller then and we truly enjoyed it. Therefore, her service and a post visitation will be held at Elbert Christian Church, Friday, June 7, 2024 at 3:00 PM. The family will remain in the vestibule area of the church or in the sanctuary if any of our Elberton loved ones wish to do that. Her burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery and will be a private interment.
Please realize that per Fay's request, the casket will remain closed during visitation and the memorial service. If you wish to send flowers, they will be graciously appreciated; but it is Fay's true request that you make a donation to Elberton Christian Church.
