Clara Dudley, 93, died October 17, 2013.
A native of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late A. J. and Florene Brooks Lord and the widow of W. W. Dudley. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Christopher Dudley. Mrs. Dudley was a loving mother and grandmother and was affectionately known as "Granny Dear". She leaves a legacy of wonderful southern stories and recipes.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include two children, Charles J. (Larkin) Dudley of Blacksburg, VA and Walter Dudley of Athens; sister, Jennie Argo of Watkinsville; sister-in-law, Willie Ruth Lord of Athens; grandchildren, Drenan Dudley of Arlington, VA, Scott Dudley of Atlanta and Dawn (Ronnie) Smith of St. George, Utah; nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 am until service time.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
