Clara L. Bishop, 92, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, May 4, 2014.

She was born on September 8, 1921 in Carroll, Iowa. The daughter of the late Dr. Roy Everett Parry and Hazel Rae Farr Parry of Scranton, IA, she attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IL and graduated in the Public School of Music with a business education minor and post graduate work in choral conducting at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a choir conductor in Faribault, MN, Livonia, MI and Falls Church, VA. Mrs. Bishop was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and active in bible study. She was postmistress with the contract station in Charmar Florist for several years. She was a loyal sports fan of the Braves and UGA.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Hall, leaving her three children: Nancy McGinty, of Verbena, AL, Linda Bowden of Burlington, VT, Randal Bishop of Jacksonville, FL, seven grandchildren: Eric McGinty, Abby Hall, Ryan Hall, Jared Bowden, Seth Bowden, Rachel Bishop, Brooke Bishop and two great grandchildren: Noah McGinty, Lanah Kudich, Bryce Hall and Ava Hall.

The musical memorial service for Clara Lou will be on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian, 1065 Gaines School Rd, Athens, GA 30605.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
