Christopher Paul Downey

Christopher Paul Downey, 52, died Friday October 9, 2015. Born in Murphysboro, IL, he was the son of Rev. Dr. Richard Downey and Dr. Carol McGregor Downey. Mr. Downey received his BSN from Brenau University and his Masters as a Nurse Practitioner from Duke University. He had worked as a Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Susan Kreher and was currently a Nurse Practitioner for Athens Pulmonary. He loved gardening, cooking, photography, playing with his dogs and he especially loved his family. Survivors in addition to his parents include a sister, Meaghan Downey of Oakwood; brother: Stephen (Carol) Downey of Lawrenceville; uncle: David (Kathy) Downey of Ann Arbor, MI, a number of nieces and nephews and canine companions, Marlowe and Aiden. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with the family receiving friends from 2 until 3. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or cancer research such as Sloan Kettering. Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
