Athens - Christine Ogletree Almond, 85, of 705 Whitehead Road, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008.
A native of Taliaferro County, Mrs. Almond was a daughter of the late Othur Boyd Ogletree and Alma Dunn Ogletree, and was the widow Chandler M. Almond. She was preceded in death by sisters, Gertrude Morgan of Sparta, Claudine Ogletree of Atlanta, Leila Swan of Union Point; brothers, Felton Ogletree of Augusta, Floyd Ogletree, Charles Ogletree, both of Taliaferro County, and Earl Ogletree of Wichita, Kansas.
Mrs. Almond was a homemaker and one of her greatest joys was baking cakes for family and friends. She was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for over forty years, which was also a great joy for her.
Funeral services will be at Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST, with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Carey Almond, II (Yvonne) of Athens, Mike Almond (Barbara) of Bishop, Steve Almond (Lisa) of Cumming, and Kevin Almond (Leslie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Additional survivors include six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Fuller of Avondale Estates, Lillian Dyer of Jacksonville, Fla., Lenora Lunsford of Washington, Ga., and Shirley Cowart of Powder Springs, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time.
