Chester E. "Chet" Weatherly Jr

Chester E. Weatherly Jr., of Winterville, died on Saturday, March 8, 2014. A native of Athens, Chet was the son of the late Chester E. Weatherly Sr. and Sara Yearwood Weatherly. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1969, and upon graduation embarked on a long career in the railroad business. During this career, he lived and worked in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Illinois, and Texas. After retiring from the railroad, Chet returned to the Athens area, where he worked for the University of Georgia, Campus Mail, until retiring for the second time in 2012.Survivors include Chet's children, Mark Weatherly, Angie Lee, Jennifer Bosco, and Michelle Backman; sister, Susan Davidson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East, Athens, is in charge of the arrangements.
