Cheryl Kathleen Sumner, 55 of Athens, Ga., passed away May 29 at home surrounded by her family. She was a daughter of the late Earl Sumner and JoAnn Jahn. Cheryl was born November 15, 1965 in Washington D.C. In addition to her mother and step-father, Bill Jahn, she is survived by a brother Jeff Sumner, of Akron, Ohio, a sister Julie Nissel (Paul) Ocala, Fl. Step brother Peter (Tracye) Jahn of Knoxville, Tn., Nieces and nephews; Alec and Savannah Nissel, Leigh and Davis Sumner, Amber and William Jahn. She was also surrounded in love by many special Aunts, Uncles, and cousins all of whom will miss her dearly. Cheryl graduated from the University of Akron, B.S. and Walden University, MS. She loved being a teacher and spent many years teaching fifth grade in Gwinnett County Georgia. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Athens, Ga.
