Crawford - Charlie Bailey Mason, 88, loving husband, father and grandfather, died December 31, 2007.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Eric Lewis and Drucilla Mable Mason and preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Harris Mason. He was U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, a longtime member of American Legion Post 123, Lexington, and member of Clouds Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Clouds Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John Parker officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Carlette B. Mason; children, Mary Ann Fortson (Pat) of Crawford, Lewis Mason (Mary) of Crawford, Lorena Smith of Winterville, Dorothy Mason, of Crawford, Charlie Warren Mason (Eleanor) of Crawford, Billie Howard West (Larry) of Winterville and Broach Howard (Linda) of Lexington; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Clouds Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
Lord and Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
