Charlie F. Marcus, 79, died May 5, 2013.
A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, he was a son of the late Larkin and Lizzie Sanders Marcus. He retired from Westinghouse/ABB after thirty-seven years and was employed with Enterprise Rental and Acura/Volvo of Athens for the last seventeen years. Mr. Marcus was a member and former deacon of Central Baptist Church, where he also had served as Sunday School Superintendent and in many other capacities over the years.
Mr. Marcus was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Betty Marcus; two children, Sheree (Lynn) Hardigree of Hull and Sandra (Keith) Hardeman of Winterville; brother, George (Faye-deceased) Marcus of Norcross; deceased brother, Omer and surviving sister-in-law, Carol Marcus of Atlanta; sisters, Effie Lou (C.L.-deceased) Smith of Winder, Mattie (Howard-deceased) Crawford of Athens and Lucille (Oscar-deceased) Motes of Monroe; grandchildren, Ashley (J.J.) Brushaber of Jefferson, Casey Sprinkles of Winterville, Tabitha Hardeman, Sabrina Hardeman, Daniel Kellum; great granddaughter, Adalynn Hardeman; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
