Athens - Charlie Bridges, 88, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Danielsville Chapel with Rev. Dayton Logan and Rev. Mike Purdy officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Nim Hawkins Bridges and Kate Meadow Bridges. He was a member of Forrest Heights Baptist Church and retired from Westinghouse.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Irvin Bridges; sister, Grace Spearman of Greenville, S.C.; brothers, Marvin Bridges of Danielsville, Calvin Bridges of Comer; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2008 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
