Charleyne Reed Trotter

Charleyne Reed Trotter, 91, of Statham, formerly Littlefield, TX died early Thursday morning, December 1, 2022 peacefully at home in Georgia. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 6th at Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home of Littlefield, Texas.

She was born Patsy Charleyne on November 5, 1931 in Whitharral, Texas to Frank and Lona Reed. For 82 years she built a full life, family, career, and award winning yard in the panhandle of Texas.

Charleyne Reed and Grady Trotter wed on February 16, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. About ten months later Monte was born to the newlyweds and exactly two years later, Randy arrived to complete their family. However, there was always room in her heart and home for more.

Charleyne’s work ethic was impressive throughout her life. She was highly valued on her parents’ farm during adolescence and retired after twenty-five years of dedicated service with General Telephone Company.

She took full advantage of her retirement. She enjoyed RV traveling, extensive genealogical research, had an amazing talent with a needle & thread, and a passion for flowers.

In 2013, Charleyne decided to move across the country to live with her oldest son and daughter-in-law in Georgia. She experienced the fellowship of family, the glory of gardening, and the security of companionship.

She is survived by two sons: Monte Trotter (Jan) - Statham, GA and Randy Trotter (Linda) - El Paso, TX; Sister: Gwendolyn Reed Feagley - Littlefield, TX; Brother-in-law: Bruce Trotter -Littlefield, TX; Grandchildren: Christian Trotter (Elisa) - Athens, GA, Allison Nealon (Brian) - Byron Center, Michigan, Grant Trotter - Marietta, GA, Austin Trotter (Gina Massaro) - El Paso, TX, and Cameron Trotter (Emily) - Mansfield, TX; Great Grandchildren: Connor Nealon, Torin Trotter, Shepherd Trotter, Nash Trotter, Declan Nealon, Vivian Trotter, Winnie Trotter, and Hays Trotter.

The family will be receiving friends Monday, December 5th from 6:00 until 7:00 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
