Charles Joseph Verde, 91, of Madison County, Georgia died in a tragic motor vehicle accident on Monday, February 15, 2016.
Born in Verona, Pennsylvania on December 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Dominic Gugliuzza and Antoinette Verde Gugliuzza. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Rosaria Sherwood and Anthony Gugliuzza. He faithfully served our country in World War II as a Sergeant in the United States Air Corps 40th Bombardment Group, 25th Squadron as a flight engineer, air crew member and airplane mechanic. After earning meritorious service medals and an honorable discharge in 1946, he attended DeVry University in Chicago, Illinois, where he met and married his wife and lifelong companion, Virginia Day Verde in April 1949. Charles, also known as "Chuck", was a business owner and skilled designer/builder; he and his wife became residents of Madison County in 1975 when he moved his business to Georgia. His entrepreneurialism, generous spirit, and business acumen earned him wide and welcome recognition in the region as a contributing member of the community.
He is survived by his sweetheart Virginia Day Verde; five children, Steven Verde, Valerie Verde, Regina Verde, Melanie Verde Kiser and Paul Verde; and eight grandchildren, Seann, age 36, Kevin, age 32, Austen, age 23, Marina, age 20, Clarice, age 16, Aaron, age 11, Erica, age 8, and Spencer, age 6.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville.
