Athens - Charles Vernon Schneider, 84, husband of Dycie Campbell Schneider, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospice House.
Born in Lutesville, Mo., he was the son of the late Casper Allen and Charlotte Greene Schneider. Rev. Schneider was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Evelyn Hahn Schneider. Rev. Schneider served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Receiving a Bachelors in Divinity from Anderson University, Anderson, Ind., Masters in Counseling from Illinois State University, Rev. Schneider served as a pastor for 35 years in Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, and Illinois. He was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters and sons in law, Jacquelyn and Ray Kinder, of Hendersonville, N.C., Joy and Ronnie Wooden, of Lebanon, Tenn.; brother, John Schneider, of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Virginia Johndrow, of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at 2PM, at Tuckston United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Sheila Bookout officiating. Burial will be held at Hahn's Chapel Cemetery, Marble Hill, Mo., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tuckston United Methodist Church Building Fund or to St. Mary's Hospice House.
