Buckhead, GA - Charles C. Pignato of Buckhead Georgia, formerly of Tequesta Florida died into eternal life Sunday, November 30, 2008 after a long illness. He was born in West Virginia on September 7, 1917, one of ten children born to Giovanni and Giacomina Pignato. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tequesta, Florida.
Charles worked as an engineer and plumbing contractor. The great love of his life, however, was his family. His Christian faith both sustained his loving and generous spirit and gave him strength and hope to face the difficulties of dealing with the effects of a debilitating stroke in 1987. He will be remembered for his uncommon love for people, his great sense of humor, and the devotion he showed to his wife Betty, his children, and his entire family.
Charles was preceded in death by two sons, Robert A. Pignato and Daniel J. Pignato. He is survived by Betty, his wife of 45 years, four sons John F. Pignato of Nicaragua, CA, Thomas M. Pignato of Franklin, NC, Harold Pignato of Buckhead, GA, and Samuel C. Pignato of Atlanta, GA, and two daughters, Nancy Pignato Cook of Burnsville, NC, and Kathleen Pignato Owings of Augusta, GA. He is also survived by a brother, James V. Pignato of Delray Beach, FL, and two sisters, Angelina Blizzard of Tequesta, FL, and Mary Berry of St. Albans, WV, 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the St. Mary' Hospice House, 1230 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30606.
Funeral arrangements to be announced by Lord & Stephens, WEST.
