Charles Harvey Orr, 92, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his residence.
A native of Flowery Branch, GA, he was the son of the late Wade Hampton Orr and Mattie Floyd Orr. Mr. Orr first retired from John Morrell and Company after 27 years and has been employed with Texas Refinery Corporation for the last 37 years. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Marie Elizabeth Orr; children and their spouses: Deborah Ann and Donnie Griffin of Waycross, Janet Denise and Edward Briscoe of Lawrenceville and Larry Marcus and Lana Orr of Bishop; brother: Franklin Orr of Flowery Branch; Grandchildren: Stacey (Craig) Robinson, Dallas, GA; Cristy (Donald) Stretch, Costa Rica; Lori Howell, Waycross, GA; Lisa (Matt) Holcombe, Bethlehem, GA; Wade Hampton Orr, Bishop, GA; Charles Briscoe, Lawrenceville, GA.; Great-Grandchildren: Lexi Stretch, David Stretch, Kim Stretch, Laniee Brook Howell, Koltan Robinson, and Andrew Holcombe.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Lord & Stephens West Chapel, Bogart, Georgia. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles Briscoe, Matt Holcombe, Wade Hampton Orr, and Craig Robinson.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Lord and Stephens West, Bogart, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or the March of Dimes.
