Charles Lee Johnson

Charles Lee Johnson was born on April 12, 1930 to Vinnie Lee Johnson and Mattie Sue Bonner in Oglethorpe County, Georgia and died on January 16, 2021. He was schooled at Meson Academy and married his sweetheart, Hilda Annette King. He enlisted in and proudly served in the US Navy. After serving in the Navy he and his growing family settled in College Park, Georgia where he worked until retirement for Delta Airlines. During these years he was an active member of the Elks Lodge where he served as Exalted Ruler and in other leadership positions. Upon retirement he built a new home in Oglethorpe County and returned there for his retirement years where he did the things he enjoyed doing and loved being with his family. He was affectionately known as Papa by his large extended family and loved by them all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Hilda, and by his son Charlie. He is survived by his three daughters; Teresa, Sherrie, and Heidi; by 10 grand children; 25 great grand children; 1 great great grandchild; and many friends.

He will be interred in a private ceremony.
