Charles Leonard Isbell, 71, of Watkinsville, passed away on July 27, 2024. Born on September 19th, 1952, he was the son of the late Charlie Anderson Isbell and Vernice Amy Isbell of Athens, GA.
Leonard was a graduate of Athens High Class of 1970, and The University of Georgia class of 1976. His accounting major led him to a successful career at Georgia Pacific of 34 years. If you had the pleasure of meeting Leonard, you knew of his love for Christ. During his career, his passion for leading music and the Gospel allowed him to serve as Minister of Music at Briarwood Baptist Church and Johnson Drive Baptist Church. His love of photography led him to start a little league sports photography business that lasted for 30 years. Being a minister of music and sports photographer highlighted his dedication for building relationships with others.
Leonard and Teresa started dating in 1970, and were married in June of 1976. Teresa was the love of his life. They moved to Watkinsville, GA and started a family. Now that family has grown to include 4 precious grandchildren. “PaPa” loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending every moment he could with them. His love for his family was evident every single day. If you were around Leonard, you were guaranteed to see photos of his grandchildren. He was a very proud “PaPa”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Charles Anderson Isbell. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Teresa Kay Isbell, children Charlie (Melissa) Isbell, Lindsay (Lee) Grahl grandchildren, Ava Lauren McClure, Margaret Henley and Madeline James Grahl, Austin Edward Isbell, sister Debbie (Blanton) Dove, and nephew David (Courtney) Dove and children.
Family and friends are respectively invited to attend a graveside service, which will be held at Athens Memory Gardens located at 5195 Lexington Rd Athens, GA 30605 on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 beginning at 11:00 AM.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
