Athens - Charles Herbert Ferris-Thackwell, 94, died July 8, 2007.
Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, he was the son of the late James Herbert and Daisy Ruth Thackwell Ferris and was preceded in death by his first wife, Bethel E. Kofoed Thackwell.
Mr. Thackwell lived most of his life in Washington State, where he worked as a draftsman and was Chief Building Inspector for the county of Spokane. He was a retired Evangelist Missionary, having done work in the United States, Mexico and the Soviet Union. Mr. Thackwell was an accomplished artist, a talent he inherited from his parents. He was a lover of God's creation and took his family to many national parks.
Survivors include his wife, Loraine Cohrs-Thackwell of Lake Stevens, Wash.; children, Sharon Bond of Hull, Joyce Haefele of Athens, Gary Bohe-Thackwell of Athens and B.R. Scott of Denver, Colo.; sister, Virginia Young of Frankfort, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. We will miss his love and wisdom.
Private family memorial services will be held.
