Athens, GA - Charles (Bug) Davis, 82, died July 19, 2010.
A lifelong resident of Athens, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelene (Pat) Davis in 2009. Mr. Davis served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. He worked for the Athens Fire Department for a number of years before his employment and retirement with the U.S. Post Office. Mr. Davis enjoyed his membership with the Florence Elks Lodge, BPOE 820 and was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Stockton, Mark McKinnon, Ricky Dover, Randy Dover, Glenn Townsend and Danny Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Duel Maddox, Phil Moriarty and Johnny Miles.
Survivors include his son Steve Davis and his wife Denise of Muscle Shoals, AL; granddaughters, Whitney Davis of Pensacola, FL and Brooke Davis of Atlanta; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 until 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
