Charles Milton Brodnax

September 22, 1937 — December 14, 2024

Athens

Charles Milton Brodnax, 87, joined his Lord and Savior in the early hours of December 14, 2024 with his wife and daughter by his side. At his request, there will be no services.

Charles was born September 22, 1937 in Stone Mountain to Samuel Starr Brodnax and Lucy Belle Freeman Brodnax. Soon after he graduated high school, he married the love of his life; Ms. Mary Anna Stephens. They built a lovely life together, welcoming a daughter; Linda; three grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Charles took great pride in his family, and his grandchildren were the light of his life.

Charles was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and maintained an active role in his churches as long as he was able. As he relocated to various areas during his life, he always made it a priority to find a way to get involved in a local church. Although he was a quiet and reserved gentleman, he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at different times through his adult life; all to bring glory to GOD.

While his family and his faith were Charles’ greatest priorities, he was also a dedicated worker. He sold appliance parts for over 40 years and was an expert in his field. He worked for Rich’s department store for many decades until its acquisition, after which he began working for Fox’s Appliances. He worked with Mr. Fox for many years until his retirement.

Even as a dedicated Father, Christian, and employee, Charles still found time for his favorite hobbies, most notably his love for motorcycles. He found great joy in riding and did so as often as he could as long as he was able.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Brodnax of Athens; his daughter, Linda Phillips of Athens; his sister, Wanda McCart (Richard) of Seneca, SC; his grandchildren, Brian Watson (Amy) of Greensboro, GA; Anna Gillett (Bruce) of San Antonio, TX; Grace Hyman (Mark) of Loganville, GA; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
