Charles Alden "Charlie" Carter

Charles "Charlie" Alden Carter, 71, died June 18, 2012.
A native of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Cornelius and Lois Christian Carter. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Hagwood and Betty Tatum; infant daughter, Cornelia Ann Carter; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Miranda Carter.
Mr. Carter was a foster parent for twenty-five years. When he passed away, he was parenting Greg, Danny, Kirby, Michael and Alana, Judy Barksdale and grandson, Kevin Barksdale. Over the years, Mr. Carter's children were known as "Charlie's Angels and Frogs".
Funeral services will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Rev. Chuck Tatum officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Mathews Carter; sons, Charles "Cigar" (Lori) Carter and Mathew (Elaine) Carter.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
