Charity Dooley Land

Charity Dooley Land, 82, of Winder passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at The Landing of Winder surrounded by her husband and family.

She was born December 3, 1940, along with triplet sisters, Hope and Faith, to Ray Thomas Dooley and Ettie Mae Forsyth Dooley in Cold Springs, AL. She graduated from Tarrant City High School and worked at the Federal Credit Union in Birmingham for several years.

Shortly after getting married, she settled in Georgia where she resided for over 55 years. She raised her own family in Riverdale and spent most of her retired years in Lawrenceville. Mrs. Land was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She was a talented lady who loved drawing and painting, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very active in church and loved singing in the choir. She enjoyed serving the north Clayton County community for many years as PTA president and team mother in various sports. She also enjoyed politics and watching Georgia and Alabama football.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Richard and Linnie Ruth Land, Sr.; sisters Faith Dooley, Maye Dooley Stricklin, and Ruby Nell Dooley Welch; and brothers, Roy L. Dooley and Leldon Ray Dooley.

Charity is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Richard L. Land, Jr.; two sons, Darrell (Rhonda) Land and Byron (Kathryn) Land; sisters, Anna Sue Dooley Tubbs and Hope Dooley Fallin; grandchildren, Caleb and Carly Land; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 2 at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville at 2:30 p.m.
