Statham, GA - Chadwick "Chad" William Paxson, 36, died November 4, 2011.
Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Karen and Phillip Paxson of Bishop and the late Robin McDowell Paxson, Jr., and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robin McDowell Paxson, Sr., and William D. and Frances Alton.
Chad was a 1993 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Piedmont College. He taught for two years at Social Circle Middle School and was employed for the last six years at Hilsman Middle School where he taught sixth grade social studies. He coached various sports at Social Circle and Hilsman Middle Schools and was active in youth sports with his children. He also was a member of the Northeast Georgia Officials Association. Chad was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church and attended Watkinsville First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Dr. Rick Standard and Rev. Carlos Sibley officiating. Interment will be in Bostwick Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Detweiler, Al Daniel, Jim Fitzgerald, Taylor Murray, Tyson Anderson and Diarra Mosley.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Jocelyn Brogdon Paxson; three children, Garrett Paxson, Ben Paxson and Lauren Paxson; sisters, Jennifer (Derek) Peters and their daughter, Anslee, Emily Paxson and Lindsey Paxson; grandmother, Martha Jo Paxson and mother-in-law, Brenda B. Mercer
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chad Paxson Memorial Athletic Fund at Hilsman Middle School, 870 Gaines School Road, Athens, GA 30605 or to the Chad Paxson Family Donation Account at Oconee State Bank.
