Celeste Breen, 97, went home to God on Friday, November 22, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Celeste, also known as Sue, taught in a Catholic school before working as a ticketing agent for TWA. Widowed by her first husband, Stephen Savulak of Pittsburgh, she married TWA Captain Edward H. Breen and moved to Flushing, NY. In retirement, they moved to Lake Worth, Florida, and upon the death of Mr. Breen, she moved to Athens, Georgia to be near her loving sister, Bernadine Miller.
Celeste was a woman of consummate talent: great golfer (hole in one), superb entertainer, world class traveler, beautiful ballroom dancer, pastel artist, so much more but none came close to her absolute devotion to her family, her faith and her friends. Her enormous generosity and vibrant spirit was felt by everyone with whom she came in contact. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Athens.
Daughter of the late Albert and Catherine Murphy Kurtz, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Breen, brother, Eugene Kurtz, sister, Vonette Kurtz, brother-in-law, Victor Miller.
Survivors include her two sons and their spouses: Kenneth (Jane) Breen of Ridgefield, CT, Barry (Colette) Breen of Pennington, NJ; sister: Bernadine Miller of Athens, GA; grandchildren: Kevin (Suzanne) Breen (NY), Michael Breen (CT), Bryan (Stacey) Breen (NY), Sean (Caroline) Breen(CT), Heather Breen (NY), Julia (Patrick) Wall (NJ), Glynnis Breen (DC), Brendan (Jamie) Breen (DC); great grandchildren: Aiden, Declan, Tanner, Hadley, Sean, Cole, Katherine, Abigail, Ronan and Maeve; her Georgia nieces and nephews of Bernadine Miller and their families: Victor Kurt (Ann Rose) Miller, Candy (Dave) Pursell, Sue (Cliff) Shepstone, Edward (Jan) Miller, Kevin (Brenda) Miller and Bernadine McCranie.
